Bintan Getaway March 2005

During the March holidays, I went to Bintan with my boyfriend. The scenery was just so breath-taking, and I could just stare at the sea for ages. The sound of the lapping waves calmed me down and I couldn't believe that there was a paradise so near us. This was the first time I was in Indonesia, but we didn't change any Indonesian money, as the resorts there were mainly owned by Singaporeans.

We also tried go-karting, and it was just so cool to speed around a small race track. However, I didn't manage to take any photos of that. The car that brought us there sped so fast too.

We also had massages, and it was just like those travel programs where they had massages so near the sea, so we could look at the stars at night. I felt as if I was treated like royalty over there. I asked for a combination of swedish and thai massage. It turned out alright. We finished off the session with ginger tea.

There was a number of young Singaporean couples there, and also, I spied some families and Japanese couples too. We were entertained by a multilingual singer at the restaurant. Midway, I got distracted by a little kitten that ran into the restaurant that was just beside the swimming pool.

The only drawback was the severe motion sickness that I had on the way there. I took the medicine too late for it to work, so I felt terrible, and my senses had an overload. Usual nice smells became unberable to me, and the feeling was just too overwhelming. Fortunately, I recovered soon and I made sure I took the medicine early enough before I boarded the ferry back to Singapore.

Look how strong the winds are.  Posted by Hello

Strong waves. Nice beach. The water was very cool and nice. However, at the back of my mind, I was just so afraid the waves would suddenly recede and increase in terrible height.  Posted by Hello

Canoes are available, but we couldn't take them out because it was the monsoon period and would be a very dangerous time to do water sports. Posted by Hello

Patterns on the sand made by tiny crabs. I was mean enough to cover up some of the holes. I hope I didn't suffocate any of the crabs. The little stones around the sand patterns must have been spitted out by the crabs. I don't think I saw any crabs then. Posted by Hello

Trying my best to open my eyes but I simply couldn't. It was too bright. This is at the beach of Angsana Tree. We played frisbee, but the wind was too strong. Posted by Hello

I like this photo of me.  Posted by Hello

You can see me in the background. It is a shop selling aromatherapy stuff. Posted by Hello

This is the swimming pool that blends into the sea. Quite a number of couples are suntanning there. The service is good too. Posted by Hello

The water looked calm from far, but it actually quite choppy, especially if you see the white water waves hitting the rocks smoothened over time. Posted by Hello

I am simply captivated by the view at Banyan Tree. We took a buggy to this viewpoint, and the swimming pool seems to blend into the sea. Posted by Hello
